Goals and Philosophy

The Adults in Motion in conjunction with the Garden River First Nation Education Unit will strive to enable Garden River First Nation Community Members to achieve their Educational Goals. Our mission is to enable the student(s) to acquire the skills, knowledge, values and commitment to become lifelong learners and responsible members of the Garden River First Nation Community.

History

In September 1998, the Garden River First Nation Education Department established the Natahwegidjig Mahjeeshkahwaun “Adults in Motion” Private Alternative School at 1488a Hwy 17 East in Garden River. The adult learners have the opportunity to obtain secondary school credit courses leading to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) through the Ministry of Education and Training Independent Learning Centre (ILC) and through the Cooperative Education Program (September 2000).
